Introduction Tirzepatide is a synthetic peptide-based dual agonist of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor. It is a modified incretin peptide designed to activate both GIP and GLP-1 receptor signaling pathways, which play important roles in glucose metabolism, insulin secretion, and energy homeostasis.

By engaging GIP and GLP-1 receptors, tirzepatide modulates incretin-mediated signaling, enhances glucose-dependent insulin responses, regulates glucagon secretion, and influences metabolic pathways. Due to its dual receptor activity and optimized peptide structure, tirzepatide is widely used as a research tool for investigating incretin biology, metabolic regulation, receptor signaling, and peptide pharmacology.
